Death By Attitude
Ultimately, if we are going to create a new world we need a totally "NEW" human being to inhabit it. In the end it is us and our attitudes which create the world. There are some very deep grooves in consciousness which need to be transcended collectively and I think we need every tool at our disposal to leap towards a positive future.
Collectively we have bad attitudes about money. On one hand we all want lots of it, and on the other hand we believe that anyone who has money must be evil in some way. I think that is one reason why everyone wants to win the lottery. In our minds it's the only "moral" way to get rich! Strange.
The biggest thing about money that I notice, however, is that the majority of people are very fixed in their attitudes. Of course this is true about everything else too, but it is very easy to see in relation to money.
In the end, our perspective about money is just that: a perspective. Perspective is a thing which can be narrow or wide. It's not true or false, just the lense we use to see and judge what we see.
A huge leap on consciousness can occur just from realizing that our perspective on a thing can be adjusted, and that the adjustment of the perspective will allow more "truth" to come in.
In sales the secret is to create a fertile enough field in the person's perspective to give the salesman the opportunity to teach about the product. Most people have a consciousness that allows you one sentence to create that field. We are all, as modern Americans, so convinced of our cynical superiority that we literally jump to a full conclusion on something from one piece of information. Encountering an attitude of curiousity is extremely rare.
An evolutionary attitude, on the other hand, is an attitude of constant development. People with good attitudes about money seem to have the knack of understanding constant development.
One of my favorite teachers, Jim Rohn says, "Don't wish it was easier, wish you were better. Don't wish for more luck, wish for more wisdom." That, my friend, is an attitude of constant development.
If you stand back and take a wide-angled view on the difficulties of humanity, everything from war to climate change, you could attribute it to a fixed bad attitude. Hopefully we can change this by first becoming more flexible, and then more positive!
